Misc. Monday

(1) This week consists of conferences, prom, after school tutoring and a technology after school workshop.  It's going to be a long week..

(2) We had a bomb threat at school today.  Ugh.  It wasn't a 'credible' threat but days like this making getting anything done difficult.  

(3) bin Laden was killed last night. This pretty much sums up my feelings on that (taken from a friend's FB):

(4) As a first year teacher I find myself just scraping by to 

make it to the end of the year.  I love my kids this trimester 

but I feel overwhelmed and stressed with layoffs/budget cuts, 

etc.

Misc. Monday

(1) Today sadly ends my 10 day Easter/Spring Break.  I enjoyed every minute of it but the home stretch until June is going to be killer.

(2) This is the third time I've sounded like a man lost my voice this year.  My students are going to start to wonder if I really sound like this.

(3) I'm really working on this couch to 5k program.  I did do track in HS but I was by no means a 'runner'.  This program takes that into account and is meant for new runners.  I decided to start the program with my former college roommate and its working out well!  I will keep you updated!

(4) In the same vein I have started using the widget from the daily mile to track my workouts.  When I've lost some weight I will start a tab with my weightloss!

(5) Saturday was amazing in the mitten.  It was 75 and gorgeous.  I am ready for summer!

Misc. Monday

(1) Today is MONDAY and I am in an amazing mood...why might you ask?  I have today off....a four day work week and then SPRING BREAK!!!

 Not that it's been much like Spring around here...but in Michigan we'll take what we can get....

 (2) I am on a green kick, like bright Kelly green.  I got a super cute skirt from Old Navy on sale for $15 but I can't seem to find a pic of it.  When I've gotten in a little better shape, I'll post a pic.

(3) Leap Year was on HBO today.  I LOVE that movie.  It's not the most ingenious romantic comedy but its set in beautiful Ireland and the actor in it has a great accent.  I love this scene.

New Name

I'm trying out a new name, we''ll see how I'm feeling it in a few weeks.  I wanted something reflecting my absolute love of travel that still left room for other types of posts.  I'm new to blogging so some changes are to be expected I'm sure. ;)

'Ciao Bella' is a saying any woman who has visited Italy would be familiar with.  Italian men (usually shopkeepers) say it to you on your way out, "Goodbye beautiful", although Ciao can also mean "hello".  Most Italian women are 'immune' to the fowardness of Italian men but for the most part I found it...oddly endearing.

 Some gorgeous pictures of Italy to drool over.  I'm thinking summer 2013 for my 3rd trip there, plenty of time plan!

Miscellany Monday

(1) I was so excited for some half days last week to catch up on sleep, blogging, cleaning and lesson planning.  All of those, and more than I'll go into detail on here, got in the way last week.  But I'm pretty well planned for the rest of the week.  So I'll make up for it this week!

(2) Almost two weeks until Miami!!!  I can't wait!

(3) I found some awesome Coach sunglasses over the weekend at the Coach Outlet at Great Lakes Crossing.  

They look somewhat like this.

(4) I am 2/3 of the way through my first year of teaching.  It's been a crazy year and I'd be lying if I said I haven't started the count down 'til summer vacay.  ;)

I'm off to finish my lesson plans for the week.  I picked up a new prep this trimester so I've had a lot of lessons to put together.

Oh Monday...

 

(1) I was unpleasantly surprised about the over a foot of snow we got last night.  There was much less hype about this snow storm than "Snowpocalypse 2011".  Unfortunately because I have this week off I don't get a snow day either.  Nothing is quite as satisfying as getting a day off that you weren't expecting.

(2) On a happy note my dad we are beginning to paint the living room, hallway and entryway this week.  I will post some before/after pics when the project is over.  

(3) I have my whole week  off planned out.  Painting, lesson planning, grading, Dr.'s appt, chiro appt, hair appt, Red Wings game.  I'm excited to get done (or get to do) all of the things that fall to the way side when "life happens".  

(4) I found my actual camera, to finish uploading pics for my 2010 recap, I'm also determined to take more actual pictures, to work on my albums/ scrapbooks this summer.  There are so many events that I take only crappy cell phone pics of.
