What I'm Loving Wednesday

First off I feel that my blog has been neglected.  We were in Miami for one of my best friend's weddings last week and it's made the last week kind of crazy!

(1) I'm loving how blissed out I'm feeling after our mini vacay in Miami.  Here are some of the highlights:

The Savoy Hotel on Ocean Dr in South Beach.   We LOVED this hotel.  I found it on the blind price feature on Expedia.  I knew I was getting a hotel on the beach on South Beach and that it was on the actual beach, but nothing else.  It was around $120 a night, a lovely old art deco style and had huge rooms.

This is the view of The Savoy from the beach.  They had cabanas and everything!

The Beach.  It was sunnier than it looks in this picture (crappy cell phone pic)

Viscaya.  A turn of the century European inspired mansion on Biscayne Bay.  Beautiful.  I highly recommend it!

Another pic of the gardens at Viscaya.  Gorgeous!

Red Velvet Cake from Ice Box in Miami.  Oprah called it, 'The Best Cake in America' and it does not disappoint!

My future car.  (I wish)

I will post an entry on our mini-Miami vacay this weekend.  These were my pics from my cell phone.  It was 90 and sunny, perfect for me!

(2) I'm loving that this week is a 3 1/2 day week from me and next week is a 4 day week, followed by Spring Break!  It really doesn't get much better than that!

(3) I'm loving Spring items that are out now!  Here are a few:

Disco mini
Disco Mini from J. CREW

VSpink---MSU

Anthropologie

Beach coverup from Antrhopologie.

 (3) I'm loving 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.  One of the best books I've read in awhile.  Next on the list: 'Water for Elephants'.

(4) I'm loving that I've lost 12 pounds in the last few weeks and joined up with some lovely ladies at Sparkpeople.com for support.  Summer here I come!

Have a lovely rest of the work week!

Saturday Q & A

What a beautiful sunny day in (otherwise cold) MI!

While psyching myself up to do some Spring cleaning I thought I'd share a post from Jamie!

1. If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals or are they members of your family?

I would hope most would say members of their family!  We just adopted our lovely kitty Oliver from a rescue group last October, he's 7 months old and adorable!

2. If you could have a dream come true, what would it be?
Get married, travel, have a successful career and a healthy family.  You know a little bit of everything ;)

3. What would you do with a billion dollars?
Give some to family, donate to charity, set up scholarships for my alma mater, all the usual stuff.

4. What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?
Cleaning or Shopping.  I try to avoid the latter.  I have way too many clothes, purses and shoes!
From a few years ago but I have this purse and LOVE it. The leather is beautiful.

I love my pink Ipad

I'm starting to feel to old to buy from the pink section but I love the collegiate collection!
On my wish list!

One of my favorite Xmas presents, I love pink and vera bradley!

Also on my wish list ;)

5. What is your bedtime routine?
I try to organize my bag for work, shoes and outfit.  Run some laundry if needed and tidy up a bit, check my work e-mail, shower, braid my hair and head off to bed!  I try to shower at night since I have to leave for work by 5:30.  I unbraid my hair and have soft waves that I can do a variety of hairstyles with in under 5 minutes, get dressed grab, my stuff, coffee and run out the door!

6. What activities did you do in high school? If you could go back, would you do the same stuff or something different?

I was in track and marching band.  I had some amazing friends (almost all of whom I still see on a regular basis) and I would go back just to see them everyday!!  But I agree with most that high school was hard (socially at least).

7. What kind of books do you read?

I am trying to read through the classics right now.  I also love Charlaine Harris, she wrote the books that True Blood is based off of!

8. How do you see yourself in 10 years?

Wow.  Its hard to imagine myself 34.  I would love to be married, have two kids and live in a bigger house.  Either have decided to stay in education and be a department head or counselor.  Or have taken time off to be a stay at home mom and go to law school at night.  Either one (if I'm happy) works for me.

9. What’s your fear?
The unknown.  I am a compulsive lock checker (not extremely but a little bit ;)  I have to check that the doors are closed before we leave, go to bed, etc.

10. Would you give up all junk food for the rest of your life for the opportunity to see outer space?
Nope.  I love my junk food and hate any type of airplane, I'm assuming this would apply to spacecraft as well.

11. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Make sure the coffee is brewing before I get ready for work.

12. If you could change one thing about your significant other, what would it be?
A is great.  It would be awesome if he was as timely as I am though!  Just saying...lol.

13. If you could pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?
I never really used to like my name.  Very 80s and dated.  I also always wanted to have a name with normal nicknames but my parents both hated that their names had shorter versions so they picked Heather on purpose.  I like it enough though.  I want romantic and unique names for my kids though.

14. If you had to choose between six months of sun or six months of rain, what would you choose?
You don't even have to ask.  The sun and I have a love/love relationship.

15. If you could only eat one thing for the next 6 months, what would it be?
Pizza.  I love pizza.  BBQ chicken and red onion pizza sound amazing right now...

16. What is the thing you enjoy about blogging the most?

I'm just starting and I'm loving it so far.  I love to use it to unwind and read great ideas on projects and fashion.  I'm hoping to make some great blog friends eventually as well!

17. Do you prefer salty or sweet foods?
Sweet.  Mmm

18. What items are in your purse right now?

Wallet, sunglasses, small perfume, lipgloss, Tide 2 go pen, pen, vitamins, camera, ipod.  Yeah, my purse is a small suitcase!

19. Name three things on your bucket list.

Start and Etsy shop, run a 5k and go to Ireland!

I have my bucket list as a side tab if you want to read it.  It's currently labeled, 30 before 30 and I'm still adding to it.

20. What do you watch on television that you know you shouldn’t?
Hmm.  Vampire Diaries?  I love that show, even though its set in high school and I feel like I'm the oldest person watching it!

Love. Don't Love.

What a lovely sunny 37 degree day in Michigan.  (Only a hint of sarcasm.  I really do love the sun!)  And Less than a month until sunny Miami!

(1) A and I decided to go to the pawn shop from 'Hardcore Pawn' today (a reality show on Tru TV).    It was a lot of fun.  I haven't been to many pawn stores but it was cool to see some of the people from the show (Les and Rich were there if you watch).
Love.

(2) I talked myself out of going to the gym today.  It is so easy to do now that I don't have anyone to go with.  I need to meet someone who goes to Planet Fitness around here.  I'm not a very good self-motivator.  I've been reading some running blogs for inspiration.  If someone can run 10 miles certainly I can work out for an hour 4 days a week right?
Don't Love.

(3) We did get in some shopping that I've been hoping to do.  A always teases me that I want to go shopping as soon as I get my check, but it was just a coincidence this week.  I did find some awesome deals though.  I love Aerie's underwear and scored some super cheap.  I also bought a pair of VS Pink sweatpants for $21.  I am starting to feel too old to be perusing the PINK side of VS  (at my old age of 24...) but their sweatpants are ridiculously comfortable.  For anyone else that likes them as well VS has come out with a new line called "Supermodel" that is tailored to a somewhat older (20s+) age range, although it isn't up on their website yet.
Love.

(4) When some plans fell through with friends we decided to stay in for the night.  While I enjoy hanging out with friends I was a little excited to grab my MSU fleece blanket, A's new macbook (such a nice computer!) to read some blogs and watch some HGTV.  And go to bed before midnight, I'm starting to feel old.
Love (?)

(5) I'm saving the best for last!  I have all of next week off!  Oh how I love you Mid-Winter break.  I could tell that my coworkers and myself needed this break.  Last week was torture.  I am looking forward to a week filled of appointments, cleaning, remodeling and organizing!
Love (x 2)

This is kind of the idea I have in mind for our bedroom.  I love the grey, purple, white and black together, it looks so clean and relaxing.  I bought an armoir from IKEA in the fall that is a lovely distressed white color, which was my inspiration for the color scheme.  I'm thinking a light grey on the walls, purple bedding and white furniture.

Gislev rug from Ikea.  I loved this rug, and it was only $19.99!

We're in the middle of a mini-remodel.  Look for some before/after pics in the coming months.  Our kitchen is already done (thanks to my lovely father who is a wonderful painter!) and we will be tackling the living room next week.

Have a Wonderful weekend.
